Preparedness is a daily issue......

During the course of the school year, you may hear of other districts in other states who are involved in weather related disasters. At that time, you might think," Wow, what if that happened here?" For a few days or even weeks you may consider what you would do. Unless you have been through a severe tornado, winter storm, wildfire, etc. , you may become complacent and think "I'll do that later. Today I need to concentrate on field trips, drivers or which route I need to place that homeless student on. "
Unfortunately, we all get caught up in the day-to-day routines...those pressing issues that require immediate attention. However, if you don't have an emergency plan for your transportation center or if you have not exercised your plan, it requires your immediate attention. Do you know how you fit in the district emergency plan? Are your buses a transportation option for the city, county, etc. in an emergency? Do you have an established crisis team and have they practiced working together in a simulated emergency?
These and other questions must be asked before the crisis. There is not time, during an emergency, to establish a team or learn where your help will come from.

Take action today to protect your employees and the students you transport.
